So much to see and do here at Glacier National Park. It’s a beautiful big park. If you’re looking for glacier's you might want to bring your backpack as you can only see one glicier off in a distance from the famous “Going to the Sun” road. The rest are only visible if you are willing and able to hike several miles to go see them. The park has hundreds of miles of hiking trails, which can take you to the glaciers. But there is a lot more to see and do here than visiting the glaciers. You can definitely see that the mountains have been carved out by the moving glaciers by the U-shaped valleys that were left behind. Lots of mountain goats and big horn sheep can be seen almost daily at the continental divide at Logan’s Pass visitors center. Good luck finding a parking spot! The best time to visit the park is actually on Sunday. We went on a Sunday and a Friday and it was crazy busy on Friday. It’s understandable why the required a vehicle pass to select sections of the park, including the “Going to the Sun” road. If you were like us and missed out on getting one, you can take a Red Bus trip, which I highly recommend, because it’s the best way to experience and learn about the park. We discovered that you can also go before 6:00 am or after 3:00 pm. Another option is to take a scenic drive around to the east side of the park and enter the park at the East entrance anytime. You can try your luck at getting a vehicle permit at 7:00 pm the day prior. We got lucky and were able to obtain one for Friday. There were a lot of wild fires to the west of us which significantly reduced our visibility on Sunday, but a windy Thursday cleared the skies for us on Friday, which was nice. We only were able to visit a small portion of this park due to it being so busy with people. We were told the best time is September or when the park opens in May. Below are some of the pictures we took, you will see which ones were taken on the low visibility day. We stayed in Moose Creek RV park which was a nice park but not a lot of amenities, if you are looking for a great park with lots of amenities the KOA Resort has it all with two pools, restaurant, beer garden, pickleball, volleyball, and much more.
Super informative info on Glacier Park, thanks for the tips! Go forth explorers and pave the path for the rest of us :)
