Elk, Bears, Moose, Oh My...
Exploring the wilderness often brings us face to face with some of nature's most magnificent creatures. Here’s a brief overview of three iconic animals you might encounter in the Rocky Mountain National Park:
Elk
Elk are large members of the deer family, known for their impressive antlers and majestic presence. They are often found in forests and open grasslands.
Bears
Bears are powerful mammals that can be found in various habitats. They are known for their strength and adaptability, with species such as the black bear and grizzly bear being common in many regions.
Moose
Moose are the largest members of the deer family, recognizable by their long legs and broad, palmate antlers. They are typically found in northern forests and are excellent swimmers.
We saw all of these animals while we visited the park in the fall of 2024 while staying in Fort Collins Colorado. Remember to respect their habitats and observe them from a safe distance!
