Harvest Hosts... good deal or not?

We joined Harvest Hosts a few years back, I think it was a year before we purchased our Tiffin Bus, and I could argue for or against if Harvest Hosts was a good value or not. If you don't use it at least 4 times a year it most likely is not a good value as you do need to spend some money to stay at these places in additional annual fee, which is not expensive at all. You need to keep in mind that generally you might spend that money on the products you are going to purchase anyway. For example: If you stay at a winery you, assuming you like wine, you will buy a bottle or two of wine anyway and sometimes the value is not as good as what you might be purchasing a bottle of wine at a grocery store, but other times it is an amazing deal. For example, we stayed with a farmer in Utah, and he sold beef and lamb, we purchased 4 one-pound packages of hamburger and 4 packages of lamb chops (there were 8 chops in each package) for only $40. Today that would be easily double at a grocery store and the quality would be nowhere near what this was, simply put it was all delicious as hell. If you take advantage of the BoonDockers who are on the list the value increases significantly as these individuals are not selling you anything and all of the ones, we have stayed with are amazing people who treat you like a king offering sometimes full hookups. Again, if you don't use it, you're not going to get the value return. I told Joy that it was time to give it up when we started this journey, and she reminded me of the purpose was to facilitate a safe place to stay when you need one due to various factors, weather, breakdown, or distance to your next destination. So, we intentionally sprinkled in a few Harvest Hosts into our route / journey over the next 4 years.
Now that we are staying at a Harvest Host almost monthly, the value for us has greatly increased. But it wasn't until our recent Harvest Host stay that completely changed my mind and now feel the value is an amazing value and why everyone is not taking advantage is weird to me. The real value is sometimes the destination of these places. Unique, quiet, relaxing, great food and wine or beer, all sometimes in a place that you feel you're in a special place. Here are some photos of our recent stays with Harvest Hosts.
