Maybe it's both. The Petrified Forest was a nice drive and very scenic. You don't need to do a lot of walking to see lots and lots of petrified wood, but you can if you want to as ther are lots of trails to take you to some great views. Once again it was not busy because it's winter and we went during the week when everyone was working or in school. It was a cloudy day and rain was on its way so we made the best we could of the time we had.

Make sure you visit the National Parks Serive for updates and information. We discovered they are closed under certain weather conditions and that they allow dogs on all the trails so Jack gives this park two paws up.

The Park Service has done a great job of keeping the park clean and preserving the environment for generations to come. There is a lot more to see here than just petrified wood, some great landscapes and monuments of history are also here in this park. Lots of Route 66 history and we came across this cool monument marker of a old 50s vehicle.
